Emma graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic. She has lived in South Wales all her life and has a keen interest in sport. A former gymnast she knows how important it is that your body is in good working order. Having suffered with injuries throughout her gymnastics career, she was introduced to the world of chiropractic care. Whilst under care of a Chiropractor she noticed good results and saw a positive difference in her training, setting up her ambition for the future; becoming a chiropractor. Emma is keen on allaspects of chiropractic care including increasing physical activity, improving quality of lifestyle, preventative measures and rehabilitation.

“Chiropractic is a health profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, and the effects of these disorders on the functions of the nervous system and general health. There is an emphasis on manual treatments including spinal adjustments and other joint and soft tissue manipulation” (World Federation of Chiropractic, 2001). Chiropractic is a holistic therapy that aims to limit the use of pain medication and pro-long the need for surgery. Chiropractic is safe for both adults and children.

As well as physical manipulation, the full package of care includes advice about exercise, lifestyle, and activity. Chiropractic will aim to reassure you, ease your stress by controlling your pain, help you to prevent the pain happening so often and get you back to your normal activities.
Chiropractic care provides safe and effective treatment of:

•  Back, Neck and Shoulder problems
•  Joint, Posture and Muscle problems
•  Leg pain and sciatica
•  Sports Injuries

Your first visit will last for one hour. During this time the chiropractor:

  • Will take a full medical history and case history (regarding your complaint).

  • May ask you to remove your clothes to gain access to your area of complaint.
DON'T WORRY you WILL be given privacy and offered a gown. Tell your chiropractor if you are uncomfortable about this.

  • Will ask for your consent for a thorough physical examination (Including Neurological, Orthopaedic and Chiropractic tests).

  • Will check for signs of any serious conditions for which you may need to visit your GP or hospital. They may also decide to refer you for X-rays or to another specialist should they think it necessary to do so.

This is different for everyone and depends on:

  • Your condition
  • How severe it is
  • How long you have had the condition
  • How you respond to the treatment
  • How much of your chiropractors advice you follow
